Amalia Fotini Mermingas was raised in Athens, Greece. She earned a BFA and a BA from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton where she studied Art and Art History. In 2009 she traveled around the world on a ship, which radically altered her perception of people and
cultures. Since then, she has taken every opportunity to travel. Her artworks are primarily ceramic sculpture and abstracted landscapes that reference her childhood in Greece and more recent adventures in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Amalia will begin her Masters in Sculpture this fall at the University of Tennessee. She currently lives and teaches in Jupiter, Florida.
