Bio:

Barbara has drawn and worked in oil paint for as long as she can remember. She focuses on still life and floral painting, but also loves plein air and portrait painting. Her BA undergraduate degree was a concentration in painting and she received an MA in studio ceramics.

The art history classes required for the MA curriculum ignited her pursuit of a more classical approach to realism and led her to study at Grand Central Atelier in New York, studying with accomplished portrait artist Greg Mortensen. She also attended portrait workshops there with Colleen Barry and Patrick Byrnes, as well as studying floral painting in the private studio of Michael Klein and figurative painting with Josh LaRock. She also studied still life painting with Justin Wood, who has continued to be a mentor. She is influenced by both Italian Renaissance and Dutch Golden Age art.

Barbara taught ceramics at the Shelburne Art Center in Shelburne, VT from 2007-2010, where she planned events and managed the studio.
