Carl Bretzke is a representational oil painter who specializes in urban scenes and plein air landscapes. His work has been exhibited extensively in Minnesota and California, including the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Bretzke holds an MD degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School and has an undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado where he also received a minor in Fine Art.
He has trained extensively under Plein Air Painters of America signature artist Joseph Paquet. Bretzke won first place in the Quick Draw at the Second Annual Lighthouse ArtCenter Plein Air Festival in 2015. “My work is a mix of landscapes, urban landscapes and interiors. My focus is on composition and image content supported by a constant endeavor to improve my technical painting and drawing skills and to see more clearly.”
