Carlos Maldonado

My name is Carlos Maldonado and I am an artist from Iowa City. My artistic journey has been defined by a dedication to plein air painting. I work in several different mediums but primarily acrylic and gouache. With over two decades of artistic experience I embarked on a full-time painting career in 2019. When I’m not painting outside I channel my creativity into commissions and working from my studio.

My muse lies in the ever-changing landscape and our profound connection to it. With each stroke of my brush I aspire to transcend the ordinary, amplifying and intensifying the hues of our world while preserving the delicate interplay of light and shadow. My mission is to craft scenes that resonate with viewers, fostering a sense of unity with the environment and a profound appreciation for its beauty.
