Russell Jewell is an internationally recognized plein air painter/teacher, published in the Splash-Series: Best in Watercolor, Sketchbook Confidential II, Artist Magazine, and Plein Air Magazine. Jewell is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Transparent Watercolor Society of America and American Watercolor Society. Jewell’s educational recognitions include a Doctorate in Art Education (UGa.), a Fulbright Memorial Scholarship to Japan, and a US Patent for his Jewell-Box Viewfinder. Jewell has won, Best Watercolor in Plein Air Easton twice. In 2025 Jewell won First Place Quick Draw in Mountain Maryland. His work was published in the Artist’s Magazine’s Best of Acrylic. Jewell has served on the faculty of the Plein Air Convention. He has judged Baltimore Watercolor Society’s Mid-Atlantic Exhibition, Georgia Watercolor Membership Exhibition and is scheduled to judge North Carolina Plein Air Competition in 2026.
