Susan Rienzo
Bio:
Susan Rienzo is a full-time studio textile artist who creates abstract and pictorial art quilts. She has a passionate love for color, textiles, and whimsical art. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Susan graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology, NY with a degree in Fashion Design, and continued on at the University of Georgia, receiving a BFA in Graphic Design. After exploring many different creative mediums while her children were young, Susan discovered quilting in 1982 and soon realized the potential of combining her passion for color, graphic design, and sewing. After moving to Florida in 2005, she was delighted to be able to focus on her art full time in a warm and joyful climate. Her love for color and whimsy infuse her art quilts with a spirited and joyful energy that is bold and unique. Known for her vibrant color palette, Susan enjoys working intuitively and spontaneously and hopes to impart the joy it gives her to others. Susan has exhibited in juried shows throughout the U.S. and Europe, and has been published in many quilt books and magazines. Most recently, Susan exhibited and sold
her entry in Contemporary Fiber in Florida, at the Florida Craft Art Gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida. And Susan was chosen as Artist to Watch and profiled in Studio Art Quarterly #21, published by SAQA, Studio Art Quilt Associates, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt, of which Susan is a juried artist member.
