During this jam-packed workshop, we will explore several botanical printing techniques including printing using the steaming method and using dye blankets to enrich the colors obtained from the leaves themselves. Discussion topics and demonstrations include when to use mordants, how to prepare both cellulose and protein fibers for printing, using acid dyes for color and an
overview of natural dyes, and how to create and use natural dye blankets. Completed projects include a one-of-a-kind, eco-printed silk scarf and several fabric samples to use in textile art or sewing projects.

There will be a 30-minute lunch break. Bring a sack lunch or explore local dining options.

There is a $50 material kit included in the tuition for this workshop.
