Discover the process of creative lost wax casting to make one-of-a-kind jewelry! Utilizing this ancient technique, students will develop wearable, fun, expressive, rings and necklaces or pendants. Reductive and additive techniques in wax working, casting of found objects, investing, pouring metal, and some soldering fabrication techniques will be demonstrated during this workshop. Each student will design their own compositions as they select a few organic things (leaf, bug, branch, lace, etc..) to cast and transform into adornment giving it a new look that displays both recognizable and abstract elements. Participants in this course will leave knowing how to cast using non-ferrous metals into a creation of their own. This workshop is open to all levels. However, using a jeweler’s saw and familiarity with using a torch is helpful but not required.
