Learn the process of etching on glass without sandblasting equipment!  In this 4-week class students will create up to 6 pieces of functional or decorative etch glasses that can then be embellished with other fused glass, copper wire, and materials of interest for one of a kind fun useful gift. Glass etching with acid is a process by which a resist is applied to glass and a design is either precut or hand cut before it is brushed with hydrofluoric acid. Once the acid is applied the surface that is not covered with resist is etched away, lightening or changing its color. This technique may then be used on larger fused glass works once you become familiar with the process in our upcoming Independent Study classes or Open Studio! All materials and firing are included in your tuition.
