Iron, Steel, & Damascus Jewelry
Days & Times:
Incorporating iron, steel, or damascus into jewelry items offers an elegance to creating a personal, one-of-a-kind adornment. Much like a precious natural gemstone, a piece of artificially aged ferrous metal doesn’t have the same surface quality or story as a piece that is found. The techniques involved in using iron, steel, or damascus are very similar to working in platinum, gold, or silver. The patience and care not to alter the textures is most important. The instructor will supply some various pieces of steel gratis, as well as a link to a supplier listed in the supply list.
The success students achieve in their finished piece will be more satisfying if they have experience with soldering and metalsmithing.
