Explore ways of giving new life to fabric materials that have sentimental value, are part of your scrap pile, ripped apart, partially functional, something you inherited, etc. instead of adding to the landfills. Fiber art has a rich tradition of incorporating elements that would otherwise be discarded.

We will challenge ourselves to make art that incorporates recycled materials for your wall, table, or other living space. We will share ideas, trade fabrics, and encourage experimentation as we make a small art quilt-like piece that will explore techniques and cut right through those old ‘quilt-rules!’ Many examples will be included for developing new ideas.

We will concentrate on hand working traditions – embroidery, hand appliqué and quilting- and how to individualize stitching to each piece. So, no sewing machines are necessary.

This workshop is suitable for any level of sewer, artist, or quilter from beginner to professional.
