In this course for working in steel, students will explore the basics of utilizing steel sheets and wire as fundamental jewelry components, as well as simple prong settings. Basic fabrication, proper soldering, and appropriate finishing techniques for steel will all be covered to create finished jewelry, such as earrings, necklaces, and brooches. This course is ideal for anyone looking to grasp the basics of steel working on a jewelry scale.
There is a part of this class a month before the workshop on Zoom to discuss and go over the capabilities and limitations of laser cutting. Students taking this session will be able to work with Maia to create designs to be laser cut prior to class. No computer skills needed, Maia will work individually with everyone making ideas come to life.
