Through demonstrations and individual instruction, students will learn the foundations of Handbuilding by creating a slab-built vessel, a slump mold bowl with handles and a foot, and a narrative shoe sculpture. Students will also learn about the stages of clay, attaching techniques, clay safety, proper storage methods, and concept development/sketching. This class will give students a comprehensive overview of the basics of sculpting with clay and the ideas central to creating compelling three-dimensional vessels and sculptures.
