In this fun workshop you will get introduced to using this exciting water-based medium properly, so you can enjoy its portability on your travels or at home. Get acquainted with gouache’s unique properties while you create small paintings from your own photographs. Manon will go over materials, demo how to handle gouache, create a charming little gouache painting in simple steps, and help you with your own paintings. Gouaches are a great medium for small frameable paintings and travel sketchbooks.

Instructor:

Develop and enhance skills in both drawing and painting. Participants are encouraged to work with a limited color palette on canvas or heavy paper with the aim of starting and completing a new work during each class session. The students will work with the instructor in creating preparatory drawings and develop them into complete paintings. Learn drawing skills and apply techniques to transition drawings into harmonious color landscapes, still life, or portrait paintings. Learning will be maximized through instructor demos as well as individual attention for each student.

Instructor:

The workshop will explore various techniques to create a “patina” on fired clay sculptures. Primarily directed at students who have finished sculptures in fired clay (bisque) and would like help in putting a patina onto the piece to have a finished work of art. This also includes students who may not be happy with a particular patina and would like to consider modifying it. The workshop discussion will include technical as well as esthetic reasons to select a specific patina technique as well as hands on help to apply it. Students should bring one or two pieces to finish
