Amalia will share strategies to help students gain confidence in mark making, line drawing, collage, and watercolor. Students will experiment with a range of techniques and media to create abstract and playful drawings and paintings. This class emphasizes personal creative growth. Let’s get loose!

Relax with Art – For the Caregiver with Danica Papali

This class is designed to help the Caregiver shift focus from the care of others and learn to declare through artistic practice. The goal of this workshop will be to begin an art journal. Participants will use Neuerographica and grounding techniques to explore and express emotions through the art-making process.

The focus of the class will be on the process of art creation. There is no need to have any prior art skill or knowledge. This class is appropriate for the absolute beginner, or any artist interested in learning to use art to connect to personal insights and wellbeing. The class provides but is not limited to acrylic, watercolor, pastel, drawing tools, and other media.

Get to know your local museum in an interactive museum tour, while learning a working knowledge of basic art principles and how to use basic art terminology.

The class will start with an art scavenger hunt, using art terms, and definitions. The scavenger hunt activity will be followed by an art project time where the group will have an opportunity to try unique, beginner art activities. The art activities will be choice-based and include 3D modular origami, zentangle drawings, magnetic stem art, and paper mosaics.

The class will walk through the 5-step modular origami triangle base fold, together and link together 3 of the triangles, at that point, the origami may be continued with simple patterns provided, or another project(s) may be chosen. The project time is flexible and an opportunity to try something new, or work on any preferred artwork.

Memoir and Journal Writing with Rafael Lima

It should be easy to write a memoir or novel – the raw material – the experience of a lifetime – is familiar to us. Yet we must overcome the anxiety; will anyone consider our work worth reading?

If you have lived, you have a story to tell. Whether your life has been a thrill ride or relatively normal, there’s bound to be something fascinating about it; something uniquely yours.

In this workshop, you will learn the techniques of focusing your life stories into compelling narratives. Whether you seek to write a full-length memoir or even short journal entries we’ll show you how to best tell the stories from your life and how to get them published in the new world of digital self-publishing.

The workshop will be helpful for beginning writers as for those seasoned writers who want to be inspired in a supportive group setting – whether your goal is to finish that memoir or start a simple journal.

Create your own digital masterpieces. This class will teach the basics of the app including layers, brushes, and color palette usage. This course requires the attendee to bring an iPad with the Procreate app downloaded and an Apple Pencil (preferred) or compatible stylus.
