Roberta Marks has traveled the globe in her search for inner peace, and Lighthouse ArtCenter presents the results of her eighty-year quest.

From the dusty corners of junk shops in Mumbai, to flea markets in Marseilles, Ms. Marks collected cast-off items that resonate with meaning and history.  These days she works out of her studio in Key West, where her collection of unusual objects rest.  The pieces are stored in labeled containers on organized shelves, waiting for the day she calls each one into service to complete an assemblage or a collage.

Remembering Pain II

She says, "I have all the ingredients to transform sadness, frustration, and longing."

Whether her success in the art world is the result of Mother Theresa's blessings, or her 40 year study with Thich Nhat Hahn, the Buddhist monk, she has created a way to narrate the stories of our existence by employing the power of art.  Roberta Marks connects us with her inner peace, and sheds light on our shared humanity through her courage, boldness and passion.
